About Card2Flight
We rank Malaysian credit cards by what they actually buy you in flight value — not the marketing-friendly "miles per RM" number.
CPP formula
CPP (sen / mile) = (cash price − taxes − fuel surcharge) × 100 ÷ miles required
We track taxes and the carrier-imposed fuel surcharge separately, so high-fuel-surcharge programs (BA, Lufthansa, SQ in J/F) surface their true cash add-on rather than hiding it inside a single "taxes" number. A CPP above ~3 sen/mile generally beats a 1.5% cashback card.
Per-cabin worth-it thresholds
| Cabin | Excellent | OK | Cashback wins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy (Y) | ≥ 4 sen/mi | 2.5–4 sen/mi | < 2.5 sen/mi |
| Premium economy (W) | ≥ 5 sen/mi | 3.5–5 sen/mi | < 3.5 sen/mi |
| Business (J) | ≥ 7 sen/mi | 5–7 sen/mi | < 5 sen/mi |
| First (F) | ≥ 10 sen/mi | 7–10 sen/mi | < 7 sen/mi |
Quarterly refresh cadence
Award charts, conversion ratios, and cash benchmarks are re-verified on a 90-day cycle. Each row records when we last checked it; rows older than 180 days are flagged "Stale — verify before booking".
The footer shows the freshness summary across the dataset.
Where the numbers come from
Every card and program on the site links back to its primary source — the ⤴ icons go to the bank product page, the bank’s transfer portal, and the airline’s award booking page. For redemption charts and devaluation history we triangulate against:
- BolehMiles — Malaysia-focused miles strategy and Enrich charts.
- MainlyMiles — KrisFlyer updates and analyses.
- RinggitPlus — Malaysian credit card reviews and earn-rate comparisons.
- Refined Points — Malaysian-specific redemption guides.
- The Milelion — Asia-region redemption strategy and devaluation reporting.
- Award Wallet — partner award charts and distance-band references.
- Award Fares — Enrich and partner award searches.
- Award Travel Finder — Qatar Avios and oneworld guides.
- Award Bird — GarudaMiles and SkyTeam partner references.
- Heymax blog — HSBC and Singapore-region transfer-bonus tracking.
- Point Hacks — Qantas, JAL, and BA partner pricing references.
- Suitesmile — KrisFlyer Saver / Advantage / Access chart explainers.
For each specific number on the site, we keep a link to the originating source.
Known gaps
- KrisFlyer Access and Etihad Guest use dynamic award pricing — we surface a "verify on portal" badge instead of CPP.
- AirAsia Rewards are excluded from CPP ranking. They anchor at 100 pts = RM1 and almost always lose to paying cash on airasia.com.
- Fuel surcharge is tracked separately from taxes so high-fuel-surcharge programs (BA, Lufthansa, SQ in J/F) don’t get hidden behind a single "taxes" number. Verify at booking — published charts can drift.
- FX fee % is per-card: CIMB Travel World Elite and Bank Rakyat are 0%, Public Bank is 1.25%, most others are 1.0%.
- We track sign-up bonuses for each card but haven’t folded them into the Year-1 net cost calculation yet. On the polish list.
